Based on the biography, "The King's Speech" was an excellently portrayed film about the true partnership and unlikely friendship between the Duke of York (Colin Firth), to become King George VI of England, and his speech therapist, Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush). The King, plagued by a terrible stammer and considered to be unfit to become king, engages the help of unorthodox speech therapist Lionel Logue. Because of the relationship that develops, Logue is able to help King George VI find his voice, and become the voice of a nation teetering on the brink of war with Germany.
The film portrayed how the tenacity of someone who believes in something strong enough can lead someone else to overcome any difficulties in life they may face, even if they happen to be king. I would like to have a friend like Lionel Logue. More than that, I would like to be a friend like Lionel Logue. Though today is almost over, there's always tomorrow to begin. See the film. It's worth it.
See ya around!
Concur completely. The co-author of the book was Mark Logue, grandson of Lionel. The book was put together from his grandfather's letters, diaries, and photographs.
ReplyDeleteA good historical story; leading man the quintessential of "tall, dark and handsome. What else do you need for a win. OK, I admit it. I am a Darcy fan. If I were to be sent to a remote desert island and could only bring one DVD to watch, it would be the 1995 BBC Prie and Prejudice. Imagine the challenge of Colin Firth to spawn the stutter and then conquer it with authenticity. We all need to be friends and have friends like Lionel Logue. But unfortunately, when the chips are down, friends (us included) seldom win, place, or show.
As interest is a film entitled "A Single Man", last year's Oscar contender. Firth should have one then, maybe this will be the year -
Hopeflly, he will put Bridget's Diary aside for now. He is so talented. amd
You've got a friend in me
ReplyDeleteYou've got a friend in me
When the road looks rough ahead
And you're miles and miles
From your nice warm bed
You just remember what your old pal said
You've got a friend in me
Yeah, you've got a friend in me
~Theme Song from Toy Story
Felt bad about being so negative on friendship so this is a do-over Blessings amd
After watching this excellent movie, I went home and researched a little online about this king. I was awed by the sovereignty of God when I realized how he protected the world during WWII with this king's ascension. His brother was pro-Hitler and probably would not have supported Churchhill like George did. Awesome God! Incredible story! Great movie!
